 Te Araroa Southbound Thru Hike (2,050 miles)

On November 27, 2014, they started walking from the northern tip of New Zealand at Cape Reinga approximately 2,000 miles on the Te Araroa Trail to arrive at Bluff, the southern tip of New Zealand, on March 29, 2015. 


RimRock Inn Managers

From April 2014 through October 2014, they managed an upscale, remote, eco-friendly bed and breakfast,
 RimRock Inn in northeast Oregon. They hosted more than 800 guests during the summer. The lodge had 4 tipis, 2 inside accommodations, 1 vintage RV, an RV park and tent spots. The lodge also had a small onsite restaurant open for dinner. Justin and Patrice drove RimRock's occupancy up and bumped the lodging brand from the #5 spot to the #2 spot for local bed and breakfasts on Trip Advisor, receiving 18 5-star reviews.

 Backpacker Magazine Road Team Ambassadors

From May 2013 through October 2013, Backpacker Magazine put them on the road for their 40th Anniversary Gear and Go speaking series at nationwide retail stores. They drove 25,000 miles through 37 states, delivering 25 informative skills clinic presentations to audiences ranging from 25-150 outdoor enthusiasts. For the tour's final stop in Denver, Patrice and Justin secured Emmy Award winner and host of The Amazing Race, Phil Keoghan, as their guest speaker.

  Bears Den Trail Center and Hostel Managers

From March 2012 through April 2013, they managed Bears Den Trail Center and Hostel, a 66-acre property owned by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC). The property consists of a lodge with 36 beds, a campground, a cottage and ample hiking trails. They also gave Appalachian Trail presentations at ATC events and hosted a thru hiker workshop for aspiring backpackers.

 Appalachian Trail Southbound Thru Hike (2,181 miles)

On June 6, 2011, they summited Katadhin in Maine and walked south 2,181 miles on the Appalachian Trail to arrive at Springer Mountain in Georgia on Oct. 24. It was a 7-year dream that they worked hard to make happen. And, it was the catalyst to this life less ordinary.
